A Visionary in Building Strong Foundations
Neil Herdina grew up on a farm, where his passion for building and creativity first took root. After graduating from the Architecture program at NDSU in 1995, Neil joined Roers Construction in Fargo, ND. He believed in building strong foundations—both in construction and in his community.
In 1997, Neil founded the Academy of the Construction Trades to address a growing shortage of young professionals entering the trades industry. Partnering with Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) Moorhead and numerous volunteers, Neil created a hands-on camp to inspire high school students to explore careers in trades.
Neil’s visionary work continues to impact countless lives, even after his passing in 2000, just before the camp's third year. His legacy lives on through the Academy, fostering a new generation of skilled tradespeople and honoring his dedication to education and community.
As a family, we were deeply moved by the program's impact and the challenges faced in securing funding and sponsorships. We are committed to ensuring this vital program thrives for years to come.
