    Herdina Family Fund Mission

The Herdina family established the non-endowment fund to provide ongoing financial support, ensuring Neil's passion and legacy continue to thrive for years to come.

    Neil Herdina

A Visionary in Building Strong Foundations
Neil Herdina grew up on a farm, where his passion for building and creativity first took root. After graduating from the Architecture program at NDSU in 1995, Neil joined Roers Construction in Fargo, ND. He believed in building strong foundations—both in construction and in his community.

Neil Herdina grew up on a farm, where his passion for building and creativity first took root. After graduating from the Architecture program at NDSU in 1995, Neil joined Roers Construction in Fargo, ND. He believed in building strong foundations—both in construction and in his community.

His boss, Jim Roers, recognized a growing shortage of young people entering the trades. Neil was assigned the project of creating a summer camp that introduced students to various trades within the construction industry, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and masonry. Partnering with Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) Moorhead and numerous industry professionals, the Academy of Construction Trades was established in 1997 and hosted the first Construction Trades Camp that summer with great success.

Neil’s work continues to impact countless lives, even after his passing in 2000. His legacy lives on through the Academy and summer camp, fostering a new generation of skilled tradespeople and honoring his dedication to education and community.
